Now, it’s time for Round 2. See all of the matchups and cast your votes in this post. Here’s how it works: The field is divided into the Legends Division and Leaders Division, with the champion of each meeting for the title, and BTN fans will vote on every matchup. Also, only primary helmets are considered. Editor’s note: Seeds were determined by Facebook polls, using the results as of Wednesday afternoon (Legends | Leaders).
At its spring meetings in Chicago, the Big Ten may discuss if it should have divisional play in basketball, as Rutgers and Maryland are set to join the league in 2014 to make the conference a 14-team entity. My advice: The Big Ten should take a lead from the other major conferences—ACC (12 teams), SEC (14), Pac-12 (12), old Big East (15), Atlantic 10 (16)–and not have divisional play. Yes, having divisions would make for some fun races down the stretch, as more teams likely would be jockeying for division championships.
Brady Hoke is a “Michigan Man,” so he knows how to excite and pump up the fan base. The latest proof came Monday in Grand Rapids, Mich., where Hoke, while speaking to a group of Michigan alumni, had some interesting words for a longtime rival. Let’s just say, Hoke isn’t a big fan of the Michigan-Notre Dame series coming to an end after 2014. Here’s what the coach said about Notre Dame: “We are fortunate to have unbelievable rivalry games at Michigan,” Hoke said. “The Notre Dame game, that rivalry, which they’re chickening out of.
