BTN announces Big Ten baseball tourney coverage

CHICAGO – BTN’s coverage of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament begins at 6 PM ET on Wednesday with No. 1 Indiana vs. No. 8 Iowa from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., home of the College World Series. The network will also carry games 6, 7 and 8 on Thursday, each game Friday and Saturday and the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Championship Game, which will air at 2 PM ET on Sunday. The Big Ten on Tuesday announced the 2014 baseball All-Big Ten Teams and individual award winners, as voted by the conference’s coaches. Indiana’s Sam Travis was the unanimous choice for Player of the Year, teammate Joey DeNato garnered Pitcher of the Year accolades and Tracy Smith was tabbed Coach of the Year, while Ohio State’s Tanner Tully took home Freshman of the Year honors. Michigan notches shutout win over Kansas on Senior Day

Four pitchers combined on the University of Michigan baseball team’s first shutout of the season as the Wolverines blanked No. 22 Kansas, 4-0, Sunday afternoon (May 18) on Senior Day at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium. All five U-M seniors contributed to the win in the regular-season finale. Fifth-year seniors Logan McAnallen, Ben Ballantine, and senior Alex Lakatos went the first 5.2 innings on the mound for the Maize and Blue. The Big Ten released the 2014 Big Ten Baseball Tournament bracket on Saturday evening, with Indiana securing the top seed after winning its second straight conference title. The Hoosiers claimed the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament after going 21-3 in conference play. This year’s tournament will feature an eight-team field for the first time and will be held May 21-25 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., home of the College World Series. CHICAGO – BTN is the home for complete coverage of Big Ten spring championships in May and will televise events in the sports of baseball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, rowing, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field.
