Sunday's Big Ten Baseball Roundup

It was a historic day on Big Ten baseball diamonds Sunday afternoon. In Columbus, Nebraska swept a doubleheader from Ohio State to card its first conference road series win since taking 2-of-3 from Baylor in Waco, Texas, in 2008. Meanwhile, in West Lafayette and University Park, respectively, Purdue coach Doug Schrieber became the program’s all-time wins leader and Penn State coach Robbie Wine won his 200th game. April 8 Big Ten Baseball Roundup

It was another busy Sunday of action on Big Ten baseball diamonds. Perhaps the most exciting of the six games, Michigan State outlasted archrival Michigan, 10-8, in a 13-inning marathon. Illinois, Ohio State and Purdue also were victorious, as was Penn State, which went out of conference and nipped Canisius. Purdue’s win over Northwestern gave it a two-game cushion atop the Big Ten standings.

April 7 Big Ten Baseball Roundup

Michigan scored a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings and Trent Szkutnik and Alex Lakatos allowed two earned runs in a 4-3 victory over Michigan State on Saturday at McLane Stadium. With the victory, the Wolverines, winners of three consecutive games, clinched the series. Szkutnik picked up the win, scattering nine hits and allowing two earned runs, while Lakatos earned his second save of the season. Read full recap at MGoBlue.com. April 1 Big Ten Baseball Roundup

Andrew Waszak allowed two hits and one run and Tony Wieber drove home the game-winning run and set the program record for all-time saves as Michigan State nipped Ohio State, 2-1, in the rubber game of the series Sunday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich.
