Big Ten announces extension of baseball tournament in Omaha

With the Big Ten Baseball Tournament set to return to Omaha, Nebraska, this season and 2018, the conference announced an extension for TD Ameritrade Park to serve as the host venue from 2019 through 2022, it was announced Tuesday.

BTN will offer its most extensive baseball and softball coverage ever in 2016, with over 360 games airing on BTN/BTN2Go and BTN Plus for the upcoming season. Michigan picked to win 2016 Big Ten baseball championship

Michigan was voted the preseason favorite to claim the 2016 Big Ten Baseball Championship, as voted on by the conference coaches and announced on Wednesday. The coaches voted on the top six teams and also selected three students from their own squads to a Players to Watch list. The Wolverines were followed in the preseason poll by Maryland in second place, No. 3 Indiana, Iowa in fourth place, No. 5 Illinois and Michigan State in sixth place. Michigan is coming off its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2008 and posted a 39-25 record. The Wolverines return 19 letterwinners

Big Ten announces Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners

The Big Ten announced on Wednesday the 28 honorees named Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2014-15 academic year. These standouts were chosen from a group of more than 350 students honored throughout the academic year who had displayed positive sportsmanship. One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree, and two Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners were then selected from each institution.
