(BigTen,org) The Big Ten will be well-represented at the 2011 NCAA Volleyball Championship, as eight conference teams have been selected to the tournament’s field of 64 for the second consecutive season. No. 16 Minnesota swept tonight’s match against Michigan State at the Sports Pavilion, 3-0, improving to 15-9 on the season and 8-7 in Big Ten play. The Michigan State volleyball team (18-7, 7-6 Big Ten) swept past Iowa (11-15, 1-12 Big Ten), 3-0, on Friday, Nov. 4 in Iowa City, Iowa, to open the first of four straight road contests. Michigan State women’s volleyball team earns their 6th win of the Big Ten Conference season on Wednesday night against Indiana Hoosiers, 3-1. The Spartans came out firing on all cylinders, taking the first set 25-19. The Big Ten leaders in hitting percentage, Michigan State hit .387 in the first set, led by Jenilee Rathje and Alexis Mathews who combined for 11 kills on 13 swings.
