Gophers win Big Ten men's golf championship

Minnesota claimed the Big Ten Championship in men’s golf on Sunday after shooting a four-round score of 1,186 at the 2014 Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships. The Golden Gophers were followed by second-place Illinois (1,190), third-place Iowa (1,194), fourth-place Northwestern (1,204) and fifth-place Purdue (1,205) at the par-72, 7,152-yard Pete Dye Course. Minnesota earned the Big Ten’s automatic berth into the NCAA Championships. This is the eighth team title for the Golden Gophers and first since 2007. Ohio State, Michigan State share women's golf crown

Michigan State and Ohio State began Sunday tied atop the 2014 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championship standings, and that’s exactly how the finished the day. The Spartans and Buckeyes shared the crown in French Lick, Indiana, marking the former’s third title in the last four seasons. The two teams finish 31-over (895), 10 strokes ahead of Northwestern. Four Big Ten women's golf teams advance to NCAAs

Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin advanced to the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships following the conclusion of the regional championships on Saturday. Each team finished in the top eight of its respective regional to move on to the championships. Purdue placed second in the West Regional, finishing with an 8-over 860. Northwestern placed sixth in the East Regional with a 10-over 874, while Wisconsin (+19, 883) and Michigan State (+20, 884) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Central Regional. The Big Ten Conference released its Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Golf All-Conference Teams and individual award winners Tuesday. See all the teams and superlative winners in this post.
