The Big Ten announced Tuesday its 2013 All-Big Ten teams and individual award winners. Big Ten champion Indiana was well represented, as it took home Pitcher of the Year (Aaron Slegers) and Coach of the Year (Tracy Smith). It’s a good thing the Michigan State baseball team wasn’t scheduled to play at home this weekend, because McLane Baseball Stadium was under water. That’s right, Mother Nature flooded the Spartans’ entire complex. Turns out, snow and unplayable field conditions wiped out Michigan State’s three-game series at Minnesota, so it didn’t really matter after all. Watch a quick video of the scene at the stadium here.

The 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft wrapped up Wednesday, with Rounds 16-40, and a total of 30 Big Ten products were selected during the three-day event. A historic season for the Michigan State baseball team ended Saturday afternoon as the Spartans were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with an 8-2 loss to Fresno State in the Stanford Regional at Sunken Diamond. Pepperdine starter Jon Moscot threw his sixth complete game of the season and the second-seeded Waves used a four-run sixth inning to defeat third-seeded Michigan State in the first round of the Stanford Regional Friday afternoon at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond. Following the completion of the 2012 Big Ten Baseball Tournament on Saturday night, the Big Ten office released the all-tournament team. Purdue won the school’s first Big Ten tourney, thanks to an exciting 6-5 victory over heated rival Indiana, and it had five players earn honors, headlined by Most Outstanding Player Kevin Plawecki.
