Big Ten releases All-Big Ten baseball teams

The Big Ten announced Tuesday its 2013 All-Big Ten teams and individual award winners. Big Ten champion Indiana was well represented, as it took home Pitcher of the Year (Aaron Slegers) and Coach of the Year (Tracy Smith). Illinois’ Justin Parr was named Player of the Year and Kevin Duchene earned Freshman of the Year honors. See the teams in this post.

Video: McLane Baseball Stadium under water

It’s a good thing the Michigan State baseball team wasn’t scheduled to play at home this weekend, because McLane Baseball Stadium was under water. That’s right, Mother Nature flooded the Spartans’ entire complex. Turns out, snow and unplayable field conditions wiped out Michigan State’s three-game series at Minnesota, so it didn’t really matter after all. Watch a quick video of the scene at the stadium here.

Fresno State eliminates Michigan State, 8-2

A historic season for the Michigan State baseball team ended Saturday afternoon as the Spartans were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with an 8-2 loss to Fresno State in the Stanford Regional at Sunken Diamond. Spartans fall in NCAA Tourney Opener

Pepperdine starter Jon Moscot threw his sixth complete game of the season and the second-seeded Waves used a four-run sixth inning to defeat third-seeded Michigan State in the first round of the Stanford Regional Friday afternoon at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond. The Spartans (37-22) now fall into the consolation bracket in the four-team, double elimination regional and face Fresno State at 4 p.m. ET Saturday. More at MSUSpartans.com.
