Big Ten champ Iowa remains No. 1 in latest NWCA Coaches Poll

Iowa, fresh off clinching at least a share of the Big Ten crown for the seventh time in eight years, remains No. 1 in the latest USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll, released Tuesday. The Hawkeyes, who won at four-time reigning NCAA champ and No. 5 Penn State on Sunday, is one of 10 Big Ten teams ranked, four of which are in the top 5. No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Minnesota and No. 5 Penn State join the Hawkeyes in the top 5. No. 2 Missouri, of the Mid-American Conference, is the only non-Big Ten team in the top 5.

The latest USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll was released Tuesday, and undefeated Iowa and Minnesota remain in the two top spots. The top-ranked Hawkeyes and second-ranked Golden Gophers, both 10-0, face off in a highly anticipated dual at 7 p.m. ET Friday on BTN (watch on BTN2Go). Ohio State and four-time NCAA reigning champ Penn State come in at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, giving the Big Ten four of the top 5 teams. Top-ranked Iowa rallies past No. 7 Ohio State, 18-14

The top-ranked University of Iowa wrestling team won four straight matches to erase a 14-6 deficit and defeat No. 7 Ohio State, 18-14, on Sunday afternoon in front of 6,558 fans at St. John Arena. “It came down to the wire and it came down to us or them,” said UI head coach Tom Brands. “We won six, but they had a guy score big bonus points.
