The dream lives for another week for Iowa. [ MORE: Catch up on all our Week 13 Big Ten football games ] The Hawkeyes’ 28-20 win at Nebraska moved Iowa to 12-0 for the first time in program history. Even better, the East Division champs will arrive in Indianapolis one win from a likely spot in the College Football Playoff. Not bad for a team coming off a 7-6 season that was universally picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten West. But look at sparkly 12-0 Iowa now. Iowa entered the week No. 4
Nebraska safety Nate Gerry was ejected from the Huskers’ game vs. Iowa today after being called for targeting following a big collision with Iowa wide receiver Tevaun Smith. With just under 3:00 remaining in the first half, Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard threw a pass for Smith that sailed over his head. What a game! [ MORE: Check out our Big Ten football scoreboard ] IOWA 28, NEBRASKA 20: BOX | PBP | AP RECAP Jordan Canzeri broke long touchdown runs on back-to-back series in the third quarter, and No. 3 Iowa completed its first perfect regular season in 93 years with a 28-20 victory over Nebraska on Friday. The Hawkeyes (12-0, 8-0, No. 4 CFP) were far from dominant but good enough against the sloppy Cornhuskers (5-7, 3-5) on a raw afternoon. As one of two remaining unbeaten teams, they’ll head to next week’s Big Ten championship game in the middle
Lots on the line today for Iowa as it plays at Nebraska. The unbeaten Hawkeyes—who already have wrapped up the Big Ten West–need to beat the Cornhuskers to remain in contention for a playoff spot. Iowa (11-0) cracked the College Football Poll on Tuesday for the first time, ranking No. 4 behind No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Oklahoma. If Iowa wins out vs. a Nebraska team that is coming off a bye and then wins the Big Ten title game vs. Michigan State, Ohio State or Michigan, it almost assuredly will make the playoffs. Not bad
