It’s time to release my latest Big Ten men’s hoops power rankings. The rankings are not meant to mimic the Big Ten standings. What fun would that be? They aren’t scientific, either. They’re simply my thoughts on where each Big Ten team stands right now and who would win on a neutral court. Agree? Disagree? Tweet @BTNBrentYarina or leave your comments below. See Brent’s rankings in this post.
Can you see it? I can. It’s stratification in this crazy Big Ten title chase. Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan sit atop the standings with 5-2 league marks. Right behind that trio are Wisconsin, Illinois and Purdue with three conference defeats.
The Big Ten men’s basketball coaches held their weekly Big Ten teleconference Monday with reporters from around the league, and we’ve posted the audio from each phone interview in the post below. BTN.com will post these media sessions each Monday right up to the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, and all of our audio can be found in our BTN.com audio archive.
Perhaps you’ve seen the throwback uniforms the Memphis men’s basketball team has worn this season (here’s a picture!). Get ready for a similar look in the Big Ten early next month. According to Iowa SID Matt Weitzel (@BigWeitz), the Haweyes will be wearing throwback uniforms Feb. 4 against Penn State. The unis are part of Lettermen’s Day, which will honor the 1986-1987 Elite Eight team, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. See a picture of the uniforms in this post. Also, read more about them here.
