Reigning NCAA champ IU nips MSU for B1G tourney title

The fifth-seeded Indiana men’s soccer team won its 12th Big Ten Tournament Championship in school history after defeating Michigan State, 1-0, in Sunday’s title game at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Earning the Big Ten’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament, the Hoosiers will look to defend their 2012 NCAA championship. Jamie Vollmer scored the game’s lone goal in the 66th minute, while goalkeeper Colin Webb made six saves to secure the shutout. Michigan State, Indiana advance to B1G title match

Two Big Ten men’s soccer teams advanced to Sunday’s championship match with semifinal wins at host site Ohio State on Friday. In the first semifinal, Indiana beat Penn State 1-0 in an overtime shootout. The Hoosiers shot a perfect 5-of-5 in the shootout. In the second semifinal, Michigan State junior Fatai Alashe scored the game’s lone goal as the Spartans defeated Northwestern, 1-0. Indiana men's soccer tops Ohio State in B1G opener

The defending National Champion Indiana Hoosiers men’s soccer team started conference play right where they left off last season. Femi Hollinger-Janzen and Nikita Kotlov each scored a goal in Indiana’s 2-0 win over Ohio State on Sunday afternoon at Jerry Yeagley Field in Bloomington. Sophomore goaltender Michael Soderlund recorded five saves for the Hoosiers, who out-shot Ohio State, 33-10 in the victory. Alex Ivanov had 10 saves in the loss for Ohio State (2-5-2, 0-1 Big Ten). With the win the Hoosiers improve to 4-4-1 on the season and remain undefeated in Big Ten Openers. Check out the full highlights
