Big Ten releases 2014 men's tournament bracket

Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Nebraska are the top four seeds in the 2014 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, the conference office announced on Sunday night. The 17th annual event will be played March 13-16 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. After winning the outright Big Ten crown for the first time since 1986 with a 15-3 conference record, Michigan is the tournament’s top seed and will open play at noon ET on Friday. Wisconsin and Michigan State finished the year with matching 12-6 marks, but the Badgers’ head-to-head win over the Spartans on Feb. 9 gave them the No.

Video: Troy Williams explodes for And-1 dunk

Every now and then, Troy Williams offers a glimpse into why some basketball minds think he boasts Victor Oladipo-like athleticism. The Indiana freshman had one of those moments early in the first half Saturday at No. 12 Michigan. Let’s just say, Williams didn’t care that it was Jordan Morgan’s senior night. Check out his And-1 dunk in this post. INSTANT HIGHLIGHT: Holy, Troy Williams! Check out the @IndianaMBB frosh's latest highlight dunk. B1G Recap: Illinois stuns Iowa, Michigan tops IU

What sub-.500 team can make a B1G tourney run?

The upcoming Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament promises to be full of intrigue and potentially wide-open. Five of the last seven No. 1 seeds have won the Big Ten tourney. The last time someone lower than a No. 3 seed won it was Iowa, which turned the trick as a No. 6 seed in 2001. What team under .500 in Big Ten play could make a run in Indianapolis next week? I asked some Big Ten media members. [ MORE: Weekend Watch: Huskers shooting for a big finish ] Steve Greenberg, Chicago Sun-Times: It’s a real challenge to believe in

Big Ten Geeks: Huskers Keep Hope Alive

Michigan State used a run out of intermission to create separation from Iowa in an eventual 10-point win. Both teams scored nearly at will in this one, but the Spartans’ outstanding three-point shooting masked a high turnover rate that is becoming worrisome. This has been Tom Izzo’s best-ever team at limiting turnovers (at least in the tempo-free era), but the past three games have seen Michigan State turn it over on nearly a quarter of its trips. Is this a temporary blip, the result of some long-absent players getting back into the groove? The Spartans had better hope so, as

Indiana, others to wear new adidas unis in postseason

The Big Ten tournament will feature a few new uniforms, thanks to adidas outfitting Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin with special “Made in March” alternates. The uniforms were designed to pay tribute to the unique history of the schools and, according to the official release, “provide the teams with the most advanced uniform system and basketball apparel technology so they can take on the challenges and intense play of March.” [ MORE: Here’s a look at all of adidas’ “Made in March” uniforms ] Michigan and Wisconsin agreeing to don an alternate design for the postseason is no big shock. Video: Will Sheehey makes short, sweet Senior Night speech

The star player of Indiana’s senior class usually has so many people to thank and so many great memories to share during the team’s annual Senior Night ceremony. On Wednesday night, Sheehey, the star of Indiana’s 2014 senior class, spoke for 56 seconds. One longtime Indiana scribe thinks it might have been the shortest such speech. Either way, Sheehey made the most of the 56 seconds and left with a bang. Here’s how Sheehey ended it: “I’m the luckiest guy in the world, because I have the best teammates in the world, I have the best coaches in the world,

Wisconsin tops Purdue, Nebraska sweeps IU

We had two exciting games on the final Super Wednesday doubleheader of the Big Ten basketball season. In the first game of the night, Nebraska went into Assembly Hall and completed the season sweep of Indiana. No. 9 Wisconsin followed with a 76-70 win over Purdue on Senior Night at the Kohl Center. The victory marked the Badgers’ first eight-game Big Ten winning streak since 1940-41. Catch up on all the scores, stats and video highlights in this post. Video: Relive Will Sheehey's top Indiana moments

Will Sheehey was part of the recruiting class that helped make Indiana relevant again. Sheehey, out of Florida, arrived at Indiana with future 2013 NBA Draft pick Victor Oladipo. The Hoosiers struggled in his first season, racking up a 12-20 record, but they have gone 69-26 since. For that, plus his inspired play along the way, Sheehey will garner plenty of love during tonight’s Senior Night festivities. Watch the ceremony on BTN2Go. With Sheehey – in addition to Evan Gordon, Jeff Howard and Taylor Wayer – playing his final regular-season game at Assembly Hall tonight, I’ve compiled a collection of
