ESPN released the pairings for the 2012 ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Monday afternoon. The Big Ten has won the past three events, including a resounding 8-4 victory last season, this after losing each of the first 10 years. The 12-game Challenge will be played Nov. 27-28 this season. Indiana just sent out news that the school will not sign a new contract to play Kentucky in men’s basketball next season since Kentucky insists the matchup be moved to off-campus sites. According to the release: “The latest two-game, home and home contract between the schools expired following the Wildcats visit in December to Bloomington. Subsequently, Kentucky has conditioned the continuation of the series on moving the games to Louisville and/or Indianapolis.” ESPN.com’s Basketball Nation Blog looked at this issue in a solid post earlier this week. But this gives us a really good excuse to post the video of Christian’s Watford’s game-winning shot again from this past season. You’re welcome, Hoosier fans.

The Indiana men’s basketball team hired Towson’s Kenny Johnson as an assistant coach, replacing Bennie Seltzer who recently took the head coaching position at Samford, it was announced Tuesday.

The immediate future of the Indiana men’s basketball team is extremely bright. Not only do the Hoosiers return their starting five from a team that advanced to the Sweet 16 this past season, but they welcome a highly touted recruiting class, headlined by point guard Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell. Ferrell, a 5-foot-10 lead guard from Park Tudor High School (Ind.), will join Cody Zeller, Christian Watford and company in Bloomington starting next season. It’s April, the NCAA just crowned its latest men’s basketball champion (Kentucky), so that means it’s time for ESPN.com’s Joe Lunardi to post his first installment of 2013 Bracketology. Lunardi has seven Big Ten teams dancing, as of right now, headlined by Indiana, the conference’s lone No. 1 seed. Michigan State and Michigan received No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, respectively. That Kentucky-Indiana men’s basketball game in December was pretty memorable, wasn’t it? The guys over at SBNation.com thought it was so great, in fact, the game that forever cemented Christian Watford in Indiana lore claimed the No. 2 spot in the publication’s Top 10 Best College Basketball Games of 2011-12. The only game better than Indiana’s buzzer-beating upset of No. 1 Kentucky at Assembly Hall (AP recap): No. 1 Kentucky’s win over No. 5 North Carolina (AP recap). Another Big Ten team’s game landed on the list, and while Wisconsin’s Sweet 16 defeat to Syracuse (AP recap) didn’t produce a buzzer-beater, it took home the No. 6 spot.
