Best of Week 11: Big Legends Division clash in Ann Arbor

Week 11 is highlighted by a key Legends Division clash, with Nebraska playing at Michigan. Let’s call this the “Sense of Urgency Bowl.” Sounds about right. The loser will have a difficult time getting back into the division hunt. There also is a rare November non-conference tilt, with BYU playing at Wisconsin. Beware, Badgers. This looks like a tough game. And we also may see Iowa become bowl eligible with a win at Purdue. Illinois returns to Indiana, where it won its last Big Ten game in 2011. Since then, the Illini have dropped 18 league games in succession. Will

USA Today ranks football coach salaries

The always popular USA Today salary ranking is out for college football coaches, and Alabama’s Nick Saban is on top with a whopping $5.5 million salary in total compensation. That’ll buy a lot of ribs at Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. That’s what winning three national titles in four years will do for your pocketbook. The Big Ten is well-represented with three coaches among the top 10. The top-paid Big Ten boss? Do you have to ask? It’s Ohio State’s Urban Meyer at $4.6 million, which ranks No. 6 in the nation. Michigan’s Brady Hoke is No. 8 at $4.1, followed by

The games in November are the ones we all remember. And, there are a few interesting clashes this Saturday that will go a long way toward determining the pecking order in each division, especially atop the Legends Division. All eyes will be on Ann Arbor, where Nebraska will play Michigan. For all intents and purposes, the loser likely will be out of the division race. Here’s a look at the games of Week 11. Power Rankings: Gophers keep jumping up poll

A thrilling Saturday of action went a long way in shaking up my weekly Power Rankings, presented by ArcelorMittal. But, in the end, the trio at the top–Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State–reframed its top-billing status with impressive wins. After that trio, it’s surprising Minnesota checking in at No. 4. Dienhart: Here's what I learned in Week 10

There was so much to learn on Saturday, one of the most exciting days of action all season. A last-second win by Nebraska … a close finish between Minnesota and Indiana … overtime between Penn State and Illinois. Here’s what I learned. 1. If you haven’t noticed it yet, Ohio State is good. Really good. For the second game in a row, the Buckeyes annihilated a foe. Last week, it was Penn State (63-14). This week, it was Purdue (56-0). So, add it up, and that’s a 119-14 advantage for OSU the last two weeks. This is exactly what a
