Big Ten Player of the Year Sam Travis is the Big Ten’s lone semifinalist for the 2014 Golden Spikes Award, handed out to the nation’s top baseball player. Travis hit .342 with 10 home runs and 52 RBI to help lead Indiana (42-13, 21-3) to its second consecutive sweep of the Big Ten titles (regular season & tournament). Dugout fun, Big Ten baseball tourney style

The Big Ten and NCAA record crowds weren’t the only ones enjoying themselves at the 2014 Big Ten Baseball Tournament. No, the players had more than their share of good times throughout the five-day tourney at TD Ameritrade Park. Most of the fun happened in the dugout, usually during a coach’s BTN in-game interview. Big Ten regular season and tournament champion Indiana earned the Big Ten’s first national seed in the NCAA tournament, it was announced Monday. The Hoosiers, who made the College World Series last season, are the No. 4 seed and will host a regional vs. Indiana State, Stanford and Youngstown State. B1G baseball tournament breaks attendance record

Big Ten baseball fans came from all over to watch Sunday’s conference championship matchup between top-seeded Indiana and second-seeded Nebraska. The stands were packed as 19,965 fans filled up TD Ameritrade Park, which ranks as the largest single-game conference tournament attendance in NCAA history. Sunday’s final attendance numbers brings the five-day total to a Big Ten Tournament record 62,020. Four days of the tournament (Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) featured attendance of more than 10,000 people. The previous NCAA record for conference tournament attendance was established by Florida State and North Carolina in 2005 with a crowd of 17,860. Part

Top-seeded Indiana defeated second-seeded Nebraska, 8-4, in Sunday’s Big Ten baseball championship game in front of an announced crowd of 19,965 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, NE. The victory marked the Hoosiers’ second consecutive conference championship and fourth in school history (1996, 2009, 2013, 2014).
