Co-Big Ten champ Minnesota leads the 2014 Big Ten Wrestling Championships after Session 1. The Gophers racked up 77 points to jump out to the early lead in Madison. Penn State and Iowa, the other two teams that shared the dual meet crown, are in second and third place, respectively, with 70 and 68 points. Get preliminary seeds for 2014 B1G Wrestling Championships

The Big Ten Conference announced the preliminary seeds for the 2014 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, which are set for March 8-9 on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. Five schools boast at least one top-seeded wrestler, with Penn State leading the way with five. The pre-seeds, as voted on by the conference’s coaches, rank the top eight wrestlers in five weight classes, along with all 12 starters in five weight classes due to the Big Ten receiving eight or more NCAA Championships qualifier allocations in those classes. CHICAGO – With the Big Ten seeking its eighth straight national championship, BTN’s 2013-14 wrestling coverage, presented by returning sponsor Cliff Keen Athletic, will be the most extensive in network history. It’s official: Wrestling is back in the Olympics. On Sunday morning, the International Olympic Committee reinstated wrestling for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The IOC selected wrestling over baseball/softball and squash. Of course, this is huge news for the sport, the Olympics, and all wrestling fans.
