Big Ten faces on World Cup champs to grace Sports Illustrated covers

Every member of the U.S. women’s national team will get a Sports Illustrated cover, the publication announced Monday. Big Ten announces Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners

The Big Ten announced on Wednesday the 28 honorees named Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2014-15 academic year. These standouts were chosen from a group of more than 350 students honored throughout the academic year who had displayed positive sportsmanship. One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree, and two Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners were then selected from each institution. Penn State tops women's soccer preseason poll

The Big Ten Conference announced its 2014 women’s soccer preseason coaches’ poll and players to watch list on Wednesday, with Penn State earning top honors among the 14 conference teams. The Nittany Lions enter the season as the conference favorites after making their 19th straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013. Penn State completed the 2013 campaign with a 7-4-0 conference record (15-7-1 overall), and returns eight starters for the 2014 season. Buckeyes, Illini advance to title game

Illinois shut out top-seeded Penn State 1-0 in Friday’s first semifinal of the 2012 Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament, then Ohio State edged Michigan 2-1 in the second game on BTN/BTN2Go. Ohio State and Illinois now face off in Sunday’s championship match at noon ET on BTN/BTN2Go. BTN to air fall championships live for first time

For the first time, BTN will provide full coverage of the Big Ten fall championships and tournaments, including live broadcasts during the 2012 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament, Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Soccer Tournaments and delayed coverage of the Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships.
