Week 3 put that thought to shambles, as one shocking upset and several near misses gave Big Ten volleyball fans the most baffling weekend of the season thus far.

The No. 10 University of Minnesota volleyball program came from behind to defeat No. 25 Michigan State in five sets Saturday at the Sports Pavilion. The top-ranked Penn State women’s volleyball team (14-1, 4-0 Big Ten) earned a 3-0 (25-23, 25-8, 25-20) win against No. 10 Minnesota (23-3, 3-1 Big Ten) on Saturday night. Big Ten coaches voted defending Big Ten champion Nebraska as the conference favorite for the 2012 season, it was announced Thursday. Earning the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Championship last season, the Huskers top the poll for the first time as members of the Big Ten.
CHICAGO – BTN will televise more volleyball this season than ever before, with at least 50 matches set to air on BTN. The season begins with defending Big Ten Champion Nebraska hosting 2011 National Champion UCLA and Stanford at Penn State in the season’s first two weeks. The games will also be available at BTN2Go.
