Relive BTN’s 2012 MLB Stadium Tour

BTN’s unofficial MLB Ballpark Tour came to a close Tuesday night, with Michigan State beating Central Michigan 5-2 at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers. Earlier this season, BTN aired Missouri’s 5-4 win over Illinois at Busch Stadium and Penn State’s 5-1 victory over Minnesota at Target Field. Dienhart: Ranking 2012′s Big Ten Running Backs

Is there a conference with a better collection of running backs than the Big Ten? Maybe not. The group instantly became one of the best in the nation when Wisconsin’s Montee Ball announced he would return for his senior season. Add it all up, and 12 of last season’s top 13 rushers are back. The only departure: Iowa’s Marcus Coker, who transferred to FCS Stony Brook after ranking No. 2 in the Big Ten in rushing with 1,384 yards in 2012.

Sunday’s Big Ten Baseball Roundup

Penn State baseball (27-24, 13-8) completed a weekend sweep with a 3-2 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini on Sunday afternoon. Thanks to the win, Penn State remains one-half game behind Indiana for second place in the Big Ten. Senior Jordan Steranka led the way with three hits, two of which were doubles and one of those doubles scoring senior Joey DeBernardis. Friday Softball & Baseball Roundup

Several Big Ten teams took to the diamond Friday as the Big Ten softball regular season comes to a close this weekend. Illinois softball suffered a pair of losses against Northwestern, falling in game one, 3-2, before dropping the second contest, 7-3. The Big Ten will be bolstered by the return of nine starting quarterbacks in 2012. The only schools breaking in new starters under center are Michigan State (Kirk Cousins gone), Northwestern (Dan Persa gone) and Wisconsin (Russell Wilson gone). Without a doubt here, Michigan’s Denard Robinson looks like the top quarterback in the league. Could he become the first Big Ten quarterback to win the Heisman since Ohio State’s Troy Smith turned the trick in 2006?

Saturday’s Big Ten Baseball Roundup

Penn State baseball (24-22, 10-7) clinched its fourth-straight Big Ten series on Saturday evening, defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers by a score of 5-1 at Target Field.
