The Big Ten announced on Wednesday the 28 honorees named Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2014-15 academic year. These standouts were chosen from a group of more than 350 students honored throughout the academic year who had displayed positive sportsmanship.
Earlier this week, Illinois basketball coach John Groce participated as the “celebrity contestant” for the “Shoot the Puck” contest during intermission of the NHL game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Chicago Blackhawks. Groce and Illinois are fresh off a 20-15 season and an NIT berth in his second season. Watch the video in this post to see how he did.

The Big Ten Conference has at least 42 current or former student-athletes, alumni or coaches competing for gold medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The group includes 18 former Olympians and 16 past medalists, will represent five different countries and seven of the 12 Big Ten institutions in five different sports.
