The highly respected Phil Steele released his 2013 Initial Power Ratings on Friday, and the list is certain to get the attention of Big Ten fans. For starters, Big Ten preseason favorite Ohio State lands at No. 4, behind reigning national champ Alabama, Oregon and Texas A&M. Ohio State fans won’t like that. Nebraska? The reigning Legends Division champ comes in at No. 27, and is the fifth (!) Big Ten team.

We sent BTN.com senior writer Tom Dienhart on the BTN Football Tour to provide analysis from every Big Ten camp. He’s done so through the first three stops. With a day of travel planned Friday, well, he couldn’t stop the analysis. This time, Dienhart provided witty and entertaining play-by-play of the tour bus’ mechanical troubles, right outside State College, Pa.
When it comes to traveling, Jim Delany is the best. The Big Ten commissioner hitched a ride on the BTN bus during the first three stops—Indiana, Ohio State and Penn State–of our tour of training camps.
The 2013 BTN football tour has hit the road. Our team left our Chicago studio today for Bloomington, Ind, the first of its 12 stops across Big Ten country. The trip runs through Aug. 20, ending in Iowa City, Iowa. Which Big Ten stars are featured on the bus this year? Check out the Vine video in this post for the answer. CHICAGO – The 2013 Big Ten Football season is right around the corner, which means it’s time to jump on the BTN bus and head out on the Big Ten Football Preview Tour.
It’s about time for me to kiss my son, Calvin; daughter, Veronica; and wife, Robin, goodbye. I also need to rub my dog Gizmo’s ample belly one last time before I finish packing my bags.
