We are less than a week away from the debut of a show that every Big Ten football fan will want to see. “The Journey 2012” debuts next Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the show’s producers head out to this weekend’s games in order to take viewers inside the Big Ten football season with behind-the-scenes access. In the spotlight this week: Ohio State’s John Simon, Penn State’s Michael Mauti, and Michigan’s Denard Robinson.
Conference play is here – and not a moment too soon. I don’t say that for the reasons you might think (though I’m certainly not complaining about not having to discuss which game this weekend is most important for the Big Ten’s national reputation).
The Gophers can thank one specific unit for their early rise this season. Wisconsin has a new face in the backfield and he looks electric. Penn State does something interesting with their offensive lineman each week, and the Wisconsin-Nebraska game is becoming a new rivalry. And where is Nebraska looking when it comes to finding a new athletic director? Read about all of this and more in today’s Big Ten links.
BTN will televise 40 women’s basketball conference matchups for the 2012-13 season, along with 10 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament games, and an additional number of non-conference games. The games also will be available on BTN2Go.
Each year, the Big Ten is arguably the most competitive conference top to bottom. Every team believes they have a legitimate chance to win the conference. As I look at the action shaping up this weekend, this year may be a little bit different story with three haves and four have-nots.
Every week, BTN.com’s Brent Yarina (@BTNBrentYarina) and Tom Dienhart (@BTNTomDienhart) offer their predictions for each Big Ten football game. We also provide a poll for all of the games so fans can vote for their winners.
