Big Ten regular season and postseason champion Minnesota is the lone Big Ten men’s hockey team to make the NCAA field, it was announced Sunday. [ MORE: View the official NCAA tournament bracket ] The Gophers, who won the Big Ten tournament title Saturday night to claim the Big Ten’s automatic berth, open the tourney vs. Minnesota-Duluth at 5:30 p.m. ET Friday on ESPNU. Should Minnesota win, it would face the Boston University-Yale winner for a berth in the Frozen Four. This marks Minnesota’s fourth consecutive NCAA tourney appearance and the 36th in program history.
