Leah Still, daughter of former Penn State DL, beats cancer

Here’s some excellent news: Leah Still, the young daughter of former Penn State defensive lineman Devon Still, has beaten cancer. The 2011 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year announced the news on social media Monday night, soon after Leah finished her last treatment. “Words can’t describe how proud I am of this girl,” Still wrote in an Instagram post, which is embedded below. “No matter how hard it got or how painful the treatments were (and it was pretty bad a lot of the times) she never gave up! I want to thank everyone who followed us as I

Shelley Till: Big Ten freshmen making a name for themselves

Some refer to her as inexperienced, underrated, wet behind the ears, or the new kid on the block. One would expect that the rookie would need extra time to adjust to the high level of the Big Ten. She would need to gain experience before she makes her mark vs. the usual suspects. Well, not so for these young ladies! Here is a look at the current top rookies who are already making a name for themselves in the Big Ten. Jessica Shepard, Nebraska. This 6-4 center is at the top of her freshman class. She’s averaging a double-double, scoring

Here's where some very early 2016 polls rank Big Ten teams

The 2015 college football season just ended, you say? Give us at least a day to digest it all before looking ahead to the 2016 season, you say? [ MORE: Six Big Ten teams land on final AP & Coaches polls ] Not a chance. Not in today’s world, one in which the annual way-too-early polls start being released pretty much as soon as the the national championship game ends. Well, the second annual College Football Playoff National Championship Game was Monday night (it was a great one, too), so the way-too-early polls are out in full force. Check out

Tom Dienhart's top 5 players to replace: Michigan Wolverines

By most accounts, Jim Harbaugh’s debut at Michigan was a rousing success. He inherited a 5-7 team and turned it into a 10-3 squad with a domination of Florida in the Citrus Bowl to end the season. The losses all were “quality,” as the Wolverines fell at Utah, vs. Michigan State and vs. Ohio State. [ MORE: Get all of Tom Dienhart’s players to replace posts ] No doubt, this is a program with as much promise as any in the Big Ten, as Harbaugh continues to fold in talent that he has recruited. Most of last year’s key contributors

Six Big Ten football teams ranked in season's final AP, Coaches polls

The second annual College Football Playoff title game was Monday night, with No. 2 Alabama holding off No. 1 Clemson in an absolute thriller. Indiana and Maryland have both won nine straight games, while the Hawkeyes have claimed five consecutive wins. Best of all, two of these teams meet this week, with Iowa playing at MSU. Big Ten links: Jim Harbaugh's spring idea, Kevin Wilson's deal & more

So, Jim Harbaugh would like to hold part of spring practice in Florida? Why is this not a shock? This from the guy who conducted satellite camps last summer that caused an uproar. How do you think SEC schools will feel about this? Exactly. *** Good news from Indiana, as Kevin Wilson has inked a six-year deal that will keep him in Bloomington until 2021. Wilson has the program on the rise, taking it to its first bowl since 2007. The next step: winning the school’s first bowl since 1991. *** Michigan State didn’t have Denzel Valentine for four games
