BTN LiveBIG: Educational innovation has a new home in Iowa

A revolution in teacher education is taking place on the campus of the University of Iowa. And the epicenter is the not-so-humble N110 space in the College of Education’s Lindquist Center. According to Christopher Morphew, executive associate dean for research and innovation, the newly redesigned suite is a hub that brings four of the college’s academic support offices together under one roof. “We wanted a space where the offices associated with our teacher education program could better collaborate on issues related to teacher leadership and the integration of technology into [education students’] learning and, eventually, their own classrooms,” Morphew said.

Video: Khalil Iverson misses dunk; Khalil Iverson makes dunk

Very quickly, Khalil Iverson is gaining a lot of steam in any discussion pertaining to the Big Ten’s top dunker. The athletic Wisconsin wing put his name on everyone’s radar with a highlight-reel dunk in last Wednesday’s win at Iowa. One week to the day, Iverson was living above the rim again, this time in a 62-49 win at rival Minnesota. Funny thing is, Iverson’s first flight through the air ended in a blooper that Big Ten fans will be seeing for some time. It’s OK, though, because a little more than two minutes later, Iverson made up for it,

Catch up on all of the action below. MICHIGAN STATE 97, RUTGERS 66: Bryn Forbes scored a career-high 33 points, hitting a Big Ten Conference record 11 3-pointers, and No. 2 Michigan State woke up in the second half to

Video: Minnesota basketball honors senior Joey King

Joey King’s senior season hasn’t gone the way he envisioned. [ MORE: Watch all of our Big Ten senior day videos ] After all, Minnesota brought a 2-14 Big Ten clip into its home finale Wednesday night vs. rival Wisconsin. But the Eagan, Minnesota, native has played a big role for his home team in each of the past three seasons, scoring more than 1,100 career points and ranking as the program’s best free-throw shooter (84 percent). King received one last round of applause during the team’s pregame senior night festivities. Watch the ceremony in the video above. *** The

Watch Bryn Forbes hit Big Ten single-game record 11 3-pointers

Bryn Forbes has had many memorable nights from distance during his senior season. None, however, compare to what he did in No. 2 Michigan State’s 97-66 victory at Rutgers on Wednesday night. The Big Ten’s leading 3-point shooter hit a Big Ten single-game record 11 3-pointers, doing so on just 16 attempts from deep, good enough for 69 percent, and despite coming out of the game just midway through the second half. Following the historic night, the Cleveland State transfer and Michigan State sharpshooter has 103 triples and is shooting 51.5 percent from behind the arc on the season. Watch

2016 spring football preview: Penn State Nittany Lions

Change is the theme as James Franklin begins this third season at the helm of Penn State. [ MORE: Get all of Tom Dienhart’s Big Ten spring football coverage ] The staff has been altered radically. Franklin fired offensive coordinator John Donovan and shockingly saw defensive coordinator Bob Shoop leave for Tennessee. And offensive line coach Herb Hand also high-tailed it, bolting for Auburn. Plus, a raft of players transferred after a season that ended with four losses in a row. Is this a cause for alarm? No matter your spin, there is no denying that 2016 is a big

Mailbag: Unbalanced schedules, Coach of the Year & more

The basketball season is winding down. Who is the league coach of the year? And all hail Indiana! Spring football also is on the minds of readers. Could Nebraska win the West? I look at those questions and others in my mail bag. The conference schedule just isn’t fair with how it is unbalanced. It can be the luck of the draw on who you play once and who you play twice. – Brad I agree. I long for the old days when the league played almost exclusively on just Thursdays and Saturdays and there was a round-robin schedule to crown

Watch Penn State RB Saquon Barkley power-clean 390 pounds

Saquon Barkley is a beast, on and off the field. The Penn State running back dropped plenty of jaws during his true freshman season, racking up 1,237 total yards and eight touchdowns in 11 games. On Tuesday, Barkley wowed football fans, and people all over social media, with a weight room video of him power-cleaning 390 pounds (!). Keep in mind, Barkley weighs 222 pounds. With strength like this, coupled with his elite speed, agility and athleticism, it’s no wonder Barkley is such a dangerous weapon every time he touches the ball. Enjoy the video above. Whatever you do, though,
