What a day of Big Ten men’s basketball. We had three conference games on Saturday, highlighted by Michigan State’s commanding 91-76 win over Ohio State on Senior Day. In other Big Ten action: Rutgers earned its first Big Ten win of the season with a 75-52 blowout victory over Minnesota and Iowa notched an impressive 71-61 victory over Michigan to close out the action. The championship game of the 2016 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament is set. Maryland kicked off Saturday’s semifinal action with a commanding 83-62 win over Northwestern in the first game of the day. Michigan State followed that with a dominant performance, beating Ohio State 82-63 to close out the action. The Spartans and Terrapins will face off in the final at 7 p.m. ET Sunday. Mitchell scored a Big Ten Tournament record 43 points to lead Ohio State to a 73-58 win over Rutgers on Friday night in a conference tournament quarterfinal matchup. “I was just trying to win,” Mitchell said following her record-setting performance. “I know how important it is to our team and to me, and even to the Ohio State family to make things happen for this program.” The Buckeyes will play Michigan State in Saturday’s semifinals.
