Ohio State will make a switch at starting quarterback this weekend, going with freshman Braxton Miller, Buckeyes head coach Luke Fickell announced Thursday. Braxton, who was rated the number one dual threat quarterback in the 2011 recruiting class by rivals.com, replaces senior Joe Bauserman.

I said at the beginning of last week’s Numbers that the Illinois game excited me the most of any one on the Week 3 slate, and the Illini did not disappoint. Their 17-14 win over then-No. 18 Arizona State turned the nation on to something Howard, Gerry and I believed when we saw them in the pre-season: The Illini are for real. The numbers I gave last week were related to their offense, but the real story of the game was the “D.” So that’s where we’ll begin this week.

Playing its first match as a member of the Big Ten, No. 10 Nebraska outlasted four-time reigning national champ and No. 5 Penn State in five sets (25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 19-25, 15-10) Wednesday in front of a sold out crowd at the NU Coliseum. Gina Mancuso led Nebraska with 22 kills and added 10 digs en route to tallying her fifth double-double of the season. Morgan Broekhuis also had a double-double, the second of her career, and Lauren Cook notched 53 assists. Penn State’s Ariel Scott led the Nittany Lions with a match-best 23 kills.
