Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, they say, and college football fans witnessed a quick example of it in the Rutgers-Wisconsin game on Saturday. [ MORE: Get all Week 9 Big Ten football scores and stats ] The Badgers recorded a highlight-reel interception that deflected off the back of star linebacker Joe Schobert’s helmet and into safety Tanner McEvoy’s hands. To be fair, the interception wasn’t all luck. Schobert was in the right place and provided great coverage, and McEvoy had to make a tough catch, near the sideline and all. Big Ten boasts four of top five teams in preseason NWCA poll

The Big Ten is an absolute power in the college wrestling world. One look at the preseason USA TODAY/NWCA Poll is all the proof one needs. Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett cited for OVI, suspended one game

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has been suspended for one game after being cited with a misdemeanor offense of operating a vehicle under the influence. A statement from the school says Barrett was stopped at a Columbus police check point early Saturday morning.

Former Michigan State RB Eric Allen, 66, passes away

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Former Michigan State All-American and Big Ten MVP Eric Allen, who set then-NCAA single-game records for rushing yards (350) and all-purpose yards (397) against Purdue in 1971, died Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Tidelands Hospice in Georgetown, South Carolina. He was 66. A three-year letterman (1969-71) and two-time team MVP (1970-71) for legendary head coach Duffy Daugherty, Allen accounted for 4,446 career all-purpose yards and 30 touchdowns. 2015 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament bracket announced

After clinching its second straight outright Big Ten Championship with a win at Iowa on Saturday, Maryland clinched the No. 1 seed in the 2015 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament. The tournament will be held at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, beginning Thursday, Nov. 5. The tournament champion will earn the Big Ten’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
