(AP) Michigan State forward Draymond Green has been diagnosed with a sprained left knee. Green had an MRI on Wednesday and is listed as day to day. The ninth-ranked Spartans don’t play again until Sunday, when they host No. 23 Michigan. Green was injured during Tuesday night’s loss at Illinois. He was helped off the court and hobbled through the postgame handshake line. The senior is averaging 14.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.1 blocks per game, leading Michigan State in each category. He is second on the team with 3.5 assists per game.

Once again, I caught up with bracketologiest extraordinaire Jerry Palm for our weekly talk about all things Big Ten and NCAA tournament related. Listen to our conversation in this post. How many Big Ten teams does Palm have in the Big Dance? Are there any No. 1 seeds? I also asked Palm for his mid-season Big Ten player of the year, coach of the year and freshman of the year.

Tuesday’s Michigan State-Illinois game was far from a thing of beauty. In the final minutes of the first half, in fact, ESPN play-by-play guy Mike Tirico begged, “This half NEEDS to end!” As inept as the offenses were in the 42-41 decision at Assembly Hall, there were a couple highlights: Meyers Leonard’s alley-oop and Brandon Paul’s poke.
Illinois upset No. 10 Michigan State, 42-41, (recap) and No. 20 Wisconsin topped Penn State, 52-46, for its sixth consecutive win (recap) Tuesday night. Perhaps worse than the loss for the Spartans, Draymond Green left the game with a left knee injury (AP story), and he’ll undergo tests Wednesday. Catch up on all the action with our Big Ten scoreboard and get stats, video and recaps in this post.

Following back-to-back losses to Ohio State and Penn State, the Iowa wrestling team rebounded with a 19-17 victory over Minnesota this past weekend. The win also helped Iowa’s 125-pound wrestler Matt McDonough nab Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors. Kara Lentz recaps all of the action, and BTN analysts Tim Johnson and Jim Gibbons look ahead to the weekend’s upcoming matches between Michigan-Ohio State and Nebraska-Minnesota. Both events can be seen on BTN and BTN2Go.
