Every Big Ten basketball court will have a different look for the 2011-12 season, whether it be the new B1G logo, the addition of the semi-circle under the basket or the elimination of the women’s 3-point line, but at least a handful have undergone other makeovers. The floors at Illinois’ Assembly Hall, Carver-Haweye Arena, Crisler Arena, Welsh-Ryan Arena and Mackey Arena will feature new looks when the season tips Friday. Barry Alvarez turned the Wisconsin football program into a national power during his program-record 16-year tenure in Madison, Wis. Alvarez compiled a 118-73-4 career record, won Big Ten titles in 1993, 1998 and 1999, and is the only coach to win consecutive Rose Bowls. The Big Ten wrestling season started this past week, and that means it’s time for the Big Ten Conference to send out its weekly wrestling honor. The season’s first Wrestler of the Week went to Ohio State freshman Logan Steiber. See his accomplishments in this post.

This week is highlighted by two huge games, one in each division. The top game is Michigan State’s visit to Iowa, which is 6-0 at home and playing well. A loss by the Spartans—the only team in the division with just one division defeat–would further scramble the Legends Division race. In the Leaders Division, all eyes will be on Nebraska’s visit to Penn State, the only team in the division that controls its destiny. Following is a sneak peek at this week’s games.
