Purdue holds off W. Michigan, 37-32

(AP) Purdue recovered two onside kicks and Raheem Mostert returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown before halftime to give Purdue a big lead, and the Boilermakers held on to beat Western Michigan 37-32 Tuesday night in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. The Broncos had the ball with a chance to go ahead, but their comeback hopes ended when quarterback Alex Carder fumbled for his fifth turnover with just under 2 minutes left.

Nine Big Ten products make NFL Pro Bowl

Nine Big Ten products were named to the NFL Pro Bowl on Tuesday, highlighted by quarterbacks Tom Brady (Michigan) and Drew Brees (Purdue). Brees, of course, broke Dan Marino’s 27-year-old record for passing yards in a season Monday night (read more about the record!). The other former Big Ten players joining the QB’s include: T Joe Thomas (Wisconsin), T Jake Long (Michigan), C Nick Mangold (Ohio State), G Marshal Yanda (Iowa), LB Tamba Hali (Penn State), G Carl Nicks (Nebraska) and DB Charles Woodson (Michigan). Did You See This? Illinois' Weber

Prior to Tuesday night’s Big Ten opener at Assembly Hall, Illinois coach Bruce Weber allowed BTN cameras inside the Illini locker room for his pregame speech. The behind-the-scenes access resulted in some terrific footage. Watch Weber’s motivational words moments before Illinois took the court against Minnesota in the first Big Ten game of the season. As for the game, the Illini topped the Gophers in double overtime.
