Twitter: @FauxPelini and his cat are back in the news

Earlier this month during the BCS title game, Bo Pelini “won” Twitter by tweeting at his parody account, @FauxPelini, to ask for his cat back. Read more here. Three weeks later, the cat featured in the fake account’s photo is back in the news. Sort of. You see, Nebraska recently tweeted a picture of a cat on Pelini’s desk. Why? For fun, and as a way to promote the @FauxPelini-Reddit Ask Me Anything feature. @RedditCFB Delivered without comment or context. #GBR pic.twitter.com/skUzdbYbux — Nebraska Huskers (@Huskers) January 24, 2014 Read @FauxPelini and HuskersAthletics’ responses to fans’ questions here. Spartans to wear 1979 throwback vs. Michigan

Michigan State basketball is going with a special throwback uniform for Saturday night’s huge tussle with rival Michigan at the Breslin Center. The Spartans will wear their “State” script design from 1979, the year Magic Johnson and Michigan State won the national title. The team hasn’t worn the uniform since the 2003-04 season, according to this mlive.com article. This is a classic and excellent look; in fact, it’s one Nike and the Spartans should thinking about bringing back in a more modern design. The Spartans (7-0) host intrastate rival Michigan (6-0) at 7 p.m. ET Saturday. Need more reason to

Throwback Thursday Q&A: Penn State's Joe Crispin

Joe Crispin was a scoring machine throughout his Penn State career (1997-2001). The guard averaged 15.6 points in four seasons, thanks in large part to burying 308 3-pointers (2.4 per game). Currently, Crispin, who played 10 pro seasons, including stints with the NBA’s Suns and Lakers, is retired and runs Crispin Basketball in southern New Jersey. The former Nittany Lion guard has four children, all under the age of 10, and is preparing to get into coaching. Read BTN.com’s full email Q&A with Crispin. Video: NU holds moment of silence for Purdue tragedy

Purdue had plenty of support on the road Tuesday in Evanston, and it wasn’t just from Boilermaker fans. That’s because members of The Wildside, Northwestern’s student section, wrote “Stand With Purdue” on their chests to show support for the visitors (see photo below), who had a fatal shooting at their school earlier in the day. The Wildcats also held a moment of silence prior to the tip. Talk about classy! Did You See This? Robbie Hummel on Purdue tragedy

Hours after the tragic events Tuesday at Purdue, former Boilermaker Robbie Hummel posted a picture to his Instagram account of the Purdue campus, accompanied by a very powerful message. Throwback Thursday Q&A: Indiana's A.J. Guyton

A.J. Guyton compiled quite the career as a four-year starter at Indiana, from 1996-2000. As a freshman, the Peoria, Ill., native won Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was second-team All-Big Ten. As a senior, Guyton was Big Ten Player of the Year (media) and a first-team All-America. Along the way, the guard scored 2,100 points (16.4 career average), the fourth-most in Indiana annals. I caught up with Guyton, who is retired and coaches his high school alma mater’s JV team and the Bloomington (Ill) Flex, of the Premier Basketball League, for an email Q&A. [ MORE: Previous Q&As:
