The Minnesota Golden Gophers are expected to wear a patch on their jerseys this season honoring the late Gary Tinsley. They’ll also have an impressive mural in the team locker room dedicated to their former teammate. @GopherGridiron tweeted a picture of the mural Wednesday, saying: “Gary Tinsley is going to be with us in ’12.”

NCAA 13 ad features Desmond Howard as a Buckeye

Let’s be honest: the advertising campaign for NCAA Football 13 is nothing short of spectacular. Having not played the recently released game, the commercials alone are enough to entertain. The mastery behind the ads comes via a new wrinkle in the game that allows users to put Heisman Trophy winners on any team. Genius, right? Deron Williams signs NBA contract on iPad

Technology is great, isn’t it? Nowadays, we can watch games on the go from our smartphones. We can even sign contracts without paper or pen. Not all of us, but some of us. Like former Illinois star Deron Williams, who used an iPad to sign his contract with the Brooklyn Nets early Wednesday morning. In Las Vegas with Team USA, Williams tweeted a picture of himself signing the contract, the tweet reading: “Officially a Brooklyn Net! Signed my contract on an iPad Just thank God for this wonderful Opportunity #HelloBrooklyn”

Did You See This? Fans' Cody Zeller tribute

Indiana fans love Cody Zeller. The rising sophomore not only brought the Hoosiers back to relevancy last season, he also put off the NBA to return to Bloomington for at least one more year. Grateful for both things, the Indiana faithful knows Zeller’s decision means the world, especially with the nucleus the Hoosiers have coming back in 2012-13. Big Ten men's hoop players and the Olympics

Team USA finalized its 2012 men’s basketball roster Sunday, and the Big Ten will be represented in Illinois’ Deron Williams. Williams, who helped the “Redeem Team” win gold during the 2008 games, will team with 11 other NBA superstars in search of another gold medal, starting July 29. Fifteen Big Ten players have suited up for USA and won a gold medal, not counting coaches, but Williams could become the first to win two. A year ago at this time, Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger and Baylor’s Perry Jones were projected high lottery picks in the 2012 NBA Draft. Injuries, however, saw the two stars drop to No. 21 and No. 28, respectively, in last week’s draft. With the 2012 NBA Draft in the rearview mirror, it’s time to rank the Big Ten’s top 2013 draft prospects. There’s a ton of talent across the conference, from freshmen to seniors. For the sake of this post, though, only sophomores through seniors are considered. Let’s call it the Harrison Barnes rule. If you remember, two years ago, Barnes was named to the AP Preseason All-America Team before playing a single college game. Things didn’t turn out as well as expected.
