James Franklin’s Vanderbilt days are over, but the Penn State coach was back in black Saturday on the opening day of the College World Series. Franklin, who left Nashville for Penn State in January, was in Omaha to cheer on his former school’s baseball team and friend, Vandy coach Tim Corbin. Well, this comes as a surprise: Indiana QB Tre Roberson announced Wednesday that he will transfer. Roberson, who threw six touchdown passes in the 2013 finale vs. Purdue, and Nate Sudfeld were expected to share time again in 2014. Last fall, Roberson, the dual-threat option, threw for 1,128 yards and 15 touchdowns and ran for 423 yards and five scores. Less than a month away from becoming an official Big Ten member, Maryland is getting its community ready for the much-anticipated move. The school has put up “Think B1G” billboards throughout the Baltimore area, both on interstates and at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Purdue removed the upper bleachers from the south end zone at Ross-Ade Stadium on Wednesday morning, and the team posted a short Instagram video of the demolition. Here’s something you probably didn’t know (or care to add up): Wisconsin will have 20 possible uniform combinations this year. The Badgers showed off the designs Wednesday during their annual photo shoot. To be fair, many of the combinations aren’t that different, with the team boasting a primary white helmet and alternate red lid that can be mixed and matched with three facemasks (white, red and black).
