Ten-year NFL Draft snapshot: Michigan State Spartans

Ten-year NFL Draft snapshot: Michigan State Spartans

The last two NFL drafts have been fruitful for Michigan State, which has had nine players selected.

And the last two years, the Spartans have produced first-round picks. Cornerback Trae Waynes went 11th overall to the Vikings in 2015 and offensive tackle Jack Conklin was the eighth overall selection last year. And that streak of first-rounders could continue this year, as defensive tackle Malik McDowell projects as a first-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft.

But after McDowell is picked, it may be a while before another Spartan is chosen. LB Riley Bullough, SS Montae Nicholson and FB Prescott Line could be seventh-round selections. Players like WR R.J. Shelton, FS Demetrious Cox, TE Josiah Price, CB Darian Hicks, LB Ed Davis, QB Tyler O’Connor and OT Kodi Kieler figure to land as undrafted free-agents.

Mark Dantonio’s program has developed a reputation for producing wideouts, defensive linemen and defensive backs. And MSU also has had three quarterbacks picked in the last 10 drafts. Here is a look at Michigan State over the last 10 NFL drafts.
