Maryland wins 2016 Big Ten men's soccer regular-season title

The top-ranked Maryland men’s soccer team claimed the 2016 Big Ten Championship and the top seed in the Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament for the second time.

Maryland clinched its second outright Big Ten title in three seasons when Michigan State lost 1-0 in double overtime at Penn State on Saturday night. The Terrapins had earned a share of the Big Ten Championship on Friday evening by virtue of their 3-2 overtime win over visiting Wisconsin.

The 2016 Big Ten men’s soccer season concludes on Oct. 30. The Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament will open with quarterfinals at campus sites on Nov. 5 and 6, with the semifinals and final slated for Nov. 11 and 13 at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.
