Before we watch Kirk Ferentz's team practice Wednesday, here are five nuggets to know about the Hawkeyes entering the 2016 season.

1. Iowa is fresh off its first Rose Bowl Game appearance since 1991, its fifth undefeated regular season, the last coming in 1922, and a single-season program record 12 wins.

2. Kirk Ferentz is entering his 18th season in Iowa City, Iowa, tied with former Hawkeye and current Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops for the longest active-tenured FBS coach.

3. Only one coach (Bo Schembechler) has more Big Ten Coach of the Year awards than Ferentz's four; last year's honor broke a tie with legendary Iowa coach Hayden Fry and Joe Paterno.

4. C.J. Beathard became the first Iowa quarterback to win the first 13 starts of his career, suffering his first loss in the Big Ten title.

5. Desmond King, the 2015 Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year and the 2015 Jim Thorpe Award winner, tied a single-season program record with eight interceptions in 2015.
