Maryland women's lacrosse tops Syracuse, advances to NCAA title
Maryland’s women’s lacrosse team is moving on to the NCAA championship.
Taylor Cummings, Taylor Hensh and Megan Whittle each scored four goals as the Terps defeated Syracuse 19-9 in a NCAA semifinal matchup on Friday night.
Zoe Stukenberg added three goals, while goalie Megan Taylor had seven saves in the win.
With the victory, No.1-ranked Maryland will take on No. 2 North Carolina at noon ET on Sunday in the NCAA championship game.
In other NCAA women’s lacrosse action, Penn State fell to North Carolina, 12-11, in Friday’s other NCAA Tournament semifinal matchup.
Penn State was led by Jenna Mosketti, who had a first-half hat trick. Madison Cyr and Abby Smucker each had a pair of goals in the loss.
Goalie Emi Smith added four saves for the Nittany Lions.
