The 2016 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament got underway Wednesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

No. 12 Illinois throttled No. 13 Minnesota, 85-52, behind a balanced attack and a Big Ten tourney record 14 3-pointers in the opener, and No. 11 Nebraska dropped No. 14 Rutgers, 89-72, thanks to Shavon Shields' first double-double of the season.

The Illini advance to play No. 5 Iowa and the Huskers move on to face No. 6 Wisconsin.
