"Big Ten Elite: 2002 Maryland and Indiana Basketball" debuts Saturday at 9 p.m. ET on BTN/BTN2Go immediately after the Maryland-Princeton basketball game. The latest in the "Big Ten Elite" series takes you inside the Maryland and Indiana men's basketball program in 2002 and looks at the seismic changes for both as they headed toward their eventual NCAA championship game in what was then a Big Ten-ACC showdown.

For Indiana, assistant coach Mike Davis took over for Bobby Knight. At Maryland, former Ohio State coach Gary Williams was in the process of rebuilding a Terrapins program in the wake of the scandalous death of star Len Bias. The show includes interview with both Davis and Williams as well as Hoosier and Terrapin players.

In the clip above, Williams describes some of the challenges of putting his own stamp on the team.

"I'll never forget a faculty member coming up to me and saying, 'You know, our program ought to be be like Duke's'," Williams recalls. "And I looked at him and I go, 'You know what? Our program should be like the University of Maryland.'"
