Holders are an interesting breed.

Football fans rarely, if ever, notice the holder unless he has made a mistake on an extra point or a field goal attempt, usually resulting in a failed kick or an embarrassing failed attempt to reach the end zone/first-down line.

Minnesota holder and punter Peter Mortell has done his best to bring attention to the position, the best example coming in this fantastic tweet that yielded more than 13,000 retweets and 17,000 likes.

Northwestern holder Christian Salem is doing his part, too. Monday night, Salem hosted his first "On Hold" episode, a short (2:24) talk show-esque feature, that included a fun intro and an entertaining interview with star linebacker Anthony Walker.

One of the many highlights? After Walker talked about the win in Week 1 over eventual Pac-12 champ Stanford being the season's top moment, there was this back-and-forth:

Salem: "Say you're making a tackle on Christian McCaffrey, are you ever thinking in the back of your mind, you know, 'Wow, I'm just so thankful I have such a great holder like Christian Salem on my team?'"

Walker: "Of course, man. I know with his precision holding, I know we're always in good hands."

Salem: "Absolutely."
