Michigan shut out BYU, 31-0, and No. 2 Michigan State pulled away from Central Michigan, 30-10, to highlight early Week 4 Big Ten action.

MICHIGAN STATE 30, CENTRAL MICHIGAN 10: BOX | PBP | RECAP | VIDEO
Gerald Holmes ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, and No. 2 Michigan State overcame a sluggish performance to beat Central Michigan 30-10 on Saturday. The Spartans (4-0) have scored at least 30 points in a school-record 12 consecutive games, but they did not look particularly good offensively for most of this one. Connor Cook threw for only 143 yards, and the Cippewas (1-3) kept their upset bid very much alive until the final period.

RUTGERS 27, KANSAS 14: BOX | PBP | RECAP | VIDEO
Chris Laviano threw two touchdowns and Josh Hicks ran for 113 yards and two more scores as embattled Rutgers snapped a two-game losing streak and defeated Kansas 27-14 Saturday, handing the Jayhawks their 32nd straight road loss. It was the first win for the Scarlet Knights (2-2) since coach Kyle Flood was suspended for three games on Sept. 16 for contacting a faculty member about a player's grade.

BOWLING GREEN 35, PURDUE 28: BOX | PBP | RECAP | VIDEO
Travis Greene scored on a 12-yard touchdown run with 9 seconds left giving Bowling Green a 35-28 victory over Purdue on Saturday. The Falcons (2-2) have wins over two Big Ten schools this season – the first time Bowling Green has beaten two power-conference teams in the same season since 2003.

MICHIGAN 31, BYU 0: BOX | PBP | RECAP | VIDEO
Jake Rudock ran for two touchdowns and threw for another one during a first half in which Michigan did all of its scoring in a 31-0 rout against No. 22 BYU on Saturday. The Wolverines (3-1) have won three straight under Jim Harbaugh after their season-opening loss at Utah. They were 1-9 in their last 10 games against ranked opponents.

NEBRASKA 36, SOUTHERN MISS 28: BOX | PBP | RECAP | VIDEO
Tommy Armstrong passed for 368 yards and two touchdowns, Freedom Akinmoladun sacked Nick Mullens near midfield on the final play, and Nebraska held on to beat Southern Mississippi 36-28 on Saturday. Drew Brown tied an NCAA record with five field goals in the first half, Jordan Westerkamp had a career day with 11 catches for 118 yards, and the Cornhuskers (2-2) got an unexpected lift from fullback Andy Janovich.

INDIANA 31, WAKE FOREST 24: BOX | PBP | RECAP
Nate Sudfeld threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns, and Indiana improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1990 by holding off Wake Forest 31-24 on Saturday. Jordan Howard added 168 rushing yards and a touchdown for the undefeated Hoosiers, who head into next week's Big 10 showdown against No. 1 Ohio State riding a five-game winning streak.
