The Virginia Tech football team will wear a helmet decal to honor Alison Parker and Adam Ward, the two WDBJ7 employees killed in last week's on-air shootings, vs. No. 1 Ohio State on Labor Day.

The decal features maroon and turquoise ribbons, with Ward's initials "AW" and Parker's initials "AP" under each, respectively, placed on each side of a number 7, which represents the station's channel.

The maroon ribbon is for Adam, a Virginia Tech graduate and Hokies fan, and the turquoise signifies Alison?s favorite color.

?It?s extremely important that the families and loved ones of Allison Parker, Adam Ward, and WDBJ-TV, know that we stand united with them through this painful time,? Virginia Tech head football coach Frank Beamer said told wdbj7.com. ?My heart is absolutely broken for the Parker and Ward families and my prayer is that they gain strength and peace through the support and love of this community.?

Ohio State plays at Virginia Tech, the only team to beat the Buckeyes last season, at 8 p.m. ET Monday, Sept. 7.

The Hokies athletic department also honored Parker and Ward with a moment of silence at recent volleyball and soccer matches.
