The first day of the 2015 Big Ten Softball Tournament featured four games on the BTN family of networks.

Three of the games saw the lower seed card victory, the lone exception being host and No. 6 Ohio State rolling No. 11 Indiana, 24-1, behind a 12-run first inning.

In other action, No. 12 Purdue edged No. 5 Illinois, 3-2, No. 9 Penn State dropped No. 8 Maryland, 10-6, and No. 10 Iowa came from behind to defeat No. 7 Rutgers, 5-3.

NO. 12 PURDUE 3, NO. 5 ILLINOIS 2: BOX | RECAP
Paris Andrew's fifth-inning home run lifted the Boilermakers to a 3-2 victory over Illinois in the opening game of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday. The win advances Purdue to a noon Friday quarterfinal matchup with No. 4 seed Northwestern live on BTN.

NO. 9 PENN STATE 10, NO. 8 MARYLAND 6: BOX | RECAP
Junior Lexi Knief collected four hits and scored three runs to lead the Penn State softball team past Maryland, 10-6, on Thursday in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Nittany Lions advance to Friday's Quarterfinal against top-seed Michigan at 2:30 p.m. on BTN.

NO. 6 OHIO STATE 24, NO. 11 INDIANA 1: BOX | RECAP
Four records fell on Thursday evening as sixth-seeded Ohio State (30-21) started the Big Ten Tournament off with a bang, routing 11th-seeded Indiana, 24-1, to set up a date tomorrow with third-seeded Nebraska in the quarterfinals.

NO. 10 IOWA 5, No. 7 RUTGERS 3: BOX | RECAP
With the contest knotted 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Iowa's Sammi Gyerman came through with a two-run home run. The long ball proved to be the game winner, as the 10th-seeded Hawkeyes (18-39) bounced No. 7 seed Rutgers (29-20) from the Big Ten Tournament with a 5-3 victory.
