He made the announcement Sunday in a news release distributed by the athletic department.

The decision means Indiana's top eight scorers all will be back next season to go along with top recruit Thomas Bryant. Ferrell averaged a team-high 16.3 points and finished fourth in the Big Ten with 4.9 assists last season. He is No. 22 on the school's career scoring list with 1,379 points, sixth in assists with 438 and fourth in 3-pointers made with 193.

Ferrell says it is in his "best interests" to return to Bloomington.

"At the end of the day," Ferrell said in a team release, "I have decided that it is in my best interests to continue my education, to build on my involvement in the community, and to improve my skills as a basketball player as a member of the 2015-16 IU Men's Basketball Team."

Earlier this month, forward Troy Williams and guard James Blackmon Jr. also announced they would return next season.

Ferrell joins an impressive list of Big Ten stars who opted to put off the NBA draft, including Maryland's Melo Trimble, Michigan's Caris LeVert and Purdue's A.J. Hammons.
