The Nebraska bowling team won its fifth national title Saturday night, topping Stephen F. Austin, 4-2, in front of a nationally televised audience.

The Huskers, who also took the national crown in 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2013, have won five of the first 12 NCAA bowling titles.

Nebraska's championship marks the eighth won by Big Ten institutions this academic year, joining Michigan State women's cross country, Penn State women's volleyball, Ohio State football, Ohio State wrestling, Minnesota women's hockey, Ohio State pistol and Ohio State synchronized swimming.
