Iowa did about all it could do, didn?t it? Don?t you think the Hawkeyes reached expectations? I do. And so does Mike Hlas of the Cedar Rapids Gazette.

In the NCAA tourney, Iowa lost to a better team, and it came as far in the postseason as most experts suggested. So, let?s proclaim this season was an unqualified success.

?We lost two games in a row, we lost an overtime game in the Big Ten (to Northwestern), and you would have thought we lost 20 in a row,? said Iowa?s Fran McCaffery.

?It takes tremendous confidence and belief in one another to turn around and win six in a row. In this league you don?t do that without tremendous character.?

Ohio State?s season is over. What now? A revamping. And Doug Lesmerises of Cleveland.com says that?s a good thing.

Six Buckeyes will be out – seniors Sam Thompson, Shannon Scott, Amir Williams, Trey McDonald and Anthony Lee, and D?Angelo Russell, who figures to turn pro. Seven Buckeyes will be in – freshmen Austin Grandstaf, JaQuan Lyle, Mickey Mitchell, Daniel Giddens and A.J. Harris; big man David Bell, who redshirted this season; and 7-foot Virginia Tech transfer Trevor Thompson. It is gonna be fun to see how this roster takes shape next season.

The gang at InsideNU.com has a Northwestern hoops season in a review. Who was the Wildcats? MVP? Alex Olah seems to be a popular pick among staffers. And, I would agree.

I have some Indiana news for ya: The football team has reached an agreement with Ball State for a three-year series. One of the meetings could be in Lucas Oil Stadium.

***

And in case you missed this: Indiana hoops assistant Steve McClain has taken the UIC job, a notorious coach-killing gig.

Because I just LOVE NCAA tourney upsets, here is a fun piece on the five biggest opening weekend shockers in recent years.

No. 2 Wisconsin?s loss to No. 7 UNLV in the Round of 32 in 2007 made this list. Matt Zemek of The Student Section on Yardbarker says the first really great Bo Ryan team at Wisconsin was this club, which finished second in the 2007 Big Ten race to an Ohio State club with Greg Oden and Mike Conley. Wisconsin went 13-3 in a loaded Big Ten, entering this game in Chicago with a 30-5 record. However, Lon Kruger punched his Sweet 16 ticket at UNLV with this massive upset.

OK, all of you uniform geeks, listen up: Michigan says it has made no decision on tweaking its unis, including the ?legends? jerseys and helmet stickers.

If I was coach, I would dump anything tied to the Brady Hoke/Dave Brandon era. But, hey, that?s me.

Speaking of Michigan, how about this item: football coach/demigod Jim Harbaugh says he?s not worth the $5 mil per annum he?s getting paid. Oh, yes he is, when you consider the fortune the school rakes in on football revenues. If anything, Harbaugh probably should be making more. Then again, when asked if he was worth all of that cash, how is Harbaugh supposed to respond? Exactly.

Harbaugh: "I like making a buck just like the next guy. I'm not doing five times as much work as somebody else or doing more work than someone who's not the head football coach at the University of Michigan so to answer your question honestly I would have to say no."

And, finally, because no day is complete without some Nebraska football, here is a piece on how Cornhuskers OC Danny Langsdorf wants his QBs to be more efficient. You know: more completions, fewer incompletions.
