The atmosphere at Williams Arena was absolutely electric on Friday night as Iowa took down Minnesota, 23-12, in a matchup between the top ranked teams in the nation.

A total of 13,603 fans packed the arena to see the 100th all-time meeting between the Hawkeyes and Gophers.

The dual started at 165 pounds where Iowa's Nick Moore pinned Minnesota's Brandon Kingsley in 4:27 to give Iowa a 6-0 lead. Iowa's Mike Evans then topped Minnesota's Logan Storley with a takedown 39 seconds into the first sudden-victory period to give the Hawkeyes a 9-0 advantage.

Iowa won six-of-10 matches overall and scored the only bonus points of the dual. Besides Moore?s pin, Thomas Gilman notched nine takedowns, one reversal, and terminated his match, 23-7, with two nearfall points at 125. Iowa scored 23 takedowns to Minnesota?s 10.

Minnesota got on the board when sixth-ranked Scott Schiller scored a takedown in the final seconds to beat third-ranked Nathan Burak, 3-1, at 197 pounds. Chris Dardanes (133), Nick Dardanes (141) and Dylan Ness (157) also won by decision for Minnesota.

The win gives Iowa (11-0, 6-0) sole possession of first place in the Big Ten.

The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series between these two teams, 71-28-1.
