Northwestern is 0-2, with home losses to Cal and Northern Illinois, and has lost nine of its last 10, dating to last season. Northwestern players are frustrated. Northwestern fans are frustrated. And, most importantly, Pat Fitzgerald is frustrated.

The coach let his frustration be known Wednesday, when he had his team working out in the pouring rain. Northwestern usually moves inside whenever there is inclement weather. He also referred to his team as an "embarrassment" and said they aren't "very tough."
